Truck wont start: how to bleed fuel?

Ok, so I just got finished dropping my rear tank to replace the pickup area o-ring gasket, and I plumbed back in my fuel selector, as the P/O had disconnected it and ran hard lines to only the rear tank.

I realize that I have no fuel in the lines and need to prime it somehow,

I have been at it all afternoon with no luck, just dead batteries.

I have tried using an HVAC vac pump at the shrader valve, and I got fuel and had to take the pump off, but it seems to be intermittant.

I tried filling up the fuel filter with fuel through the shrader valve hole, it would run but die as soon as the filter was empty

I tried using my air compressor to pressurize the vent tube with no luck.

im running out of ideas here....How am I suposed to purge the air?

Remove the fuel filter and fill with ATF or Diesel. I find ATF easier to deal with as it's thicker and doesn't slosh around.

Hook up a battery charger to your batteries and get them topped off, you really need to spin the starter to get this engine to light off.

Crack a few of the injector lines to bleed air while you crank the engine.

Do you have fuel to the lift pump? Try removing one of the lines at the pump to check.

The P/O most likely by-passed the electric fuel valve on account of they are pure junk that cannot be trusted and the one on your truck is dead, which is why you aren't getting any fuel.


Remove the fuel-filter; fill it with CLEAN fuel, engine oil, or what-have-you; replace the FULL filter; crank the engine about thirty to sixty seconds and it should fire and run.

If, after starting on the filter full of fuel, it then starves for fuel and dies, most likely the fuel selector is stuck and not pulling fuel from a tank.

Dis-connect the main DRAW line from the selector and stick it in a jug of fuel; fill up the filter and fire it up again and see if it will run on the fuel in the jug.

....I spent 2 days cranking, bleeding, etc and it was that....lol.

Luckly now my transfter switch and front tank works fine
