Should have a ton of times after the Rally. We're drag racing Friday night at Byron Dragway.

But, that's not for another 4 months. Sorry man.

With the way the syncros are in sparky I would expect a 0-60 in something like 45 seconds, and the quarter mile in 2 or 3 mins....I'd provide proof, but I can hold my video camera stable that long, sorry.

Seriously, good call brad, I would love to know what some real world expectations could be vs the "300hp and hauls @$$" crap. Although in my mind I have trouble wrapping my head around the idea of "fast"and "truck" together....everything I have owned that I have called fast were toys that could cover the quarter in sub 11's (some into the high 9's), and could generate 1+g's of cornering force.

Ok, wrap your idea around "fast" and "truck" now. :eek:I know its not an IDI but the announcer's ignorance to diesel trucks kills me every time.:rotflmao:rotflmao:rotflmao

O I am fully aware of how capable a diesel is. I have been i quite a few 12 and 13 sec diesels(1/4 mile). And that is my point. I had a 350-375 HP powerstoke in a SD and it would only squeak out a 16 sec pass. So i get a kick out of some people who say they are in the 13s w a IDI

thank you brad....a truck is a big heavy parachute...it takes ALOT of power to make one fast....i would be impressed with a 16 to 17 sec IDI...although i could see 13 if it were going off a cliff

I doubt there's more than a very few IDI trucks that could break 17 seconds, let alone run 13's...
These trucks are bricks, and there just isn't enough power to be had out of a stock or mild IDI to make one overly fast.
A non I/C 2wd first gen Cummins with the pump turned up and a good torque converter will run in the high 13's, low 14's, and that's something that puts around 300Hp to the ground... Considering the HP numbers I'm used to seeing out of an IDI on a dyno, I wouldn't hold my breath waiting to see a 13 second one.

I also accept my IDI as an easy to work on workhorse that just gets the job done with little fuss. Nobody is gonna do it but I think 300hp is obtainable and you could stuff it in a ranger to possibly get some decent mumbers out of an idi. I feel that the idi's following is more about being able to work on your own stuff and getting decent economy. I'll b ready to break 20sec in the quarter at the rally as I know what my truck is capable of. It'll be a good time no matter what the slip says. That video is bad a**, couldn't help but post it for others to enjoy.

I've been wondering that this myself. My truck is basically stock (ask Russ, he seen it). The only mods are a alternator up grade, hydro boost, and removed fish bowl from the factory air cleaner.
That being said, my truck is N/A, E4OD, 4.10 gears, and 35' Toyos.
Woodburn dragstrip test & tune starts this weekend. I will not (not that I know of) be able to make it out this weekend. But when I go I will keep my slips and try to take video.
But then I also don't expect a sub 20 second run either.

No way. Only a Cummins will break the 13 second mark. No powerstroke or IDI will ever go that fast, not one that's owned by joe blow farmer anyway. I've spoken to half a dozen Chrysler salesmen and every one of them says a stock 3500 cummins in a single cab truck will run in the 13-14 second time frame. I think just about every Cummins owner will attest to that. The Cummins 4 banger is the Rolls Royce Merlin of the diesel truck world, flat out, no questions asked.
