In a 55 gallon barrel I mix 5 gallons diesel, 1 quart of Power Service, and 1 gallon of naptha with the waste oil. I use a spin on filter base outside of the tank, next a Holley red pump, a Racor Vormax filter, and then I have a small heat exchanger plumbed in right before the factory filter. It seems to work so far!;Sweet

I run 100% during the summer. I've been running a mix with 10-15% old gas this winter. I also tried a little mix that contained 40% wvo that I separated from sludge about 2 weeks ago and my truck liked that too.

I'm currently running 50/50. With the colder temps lately, I'm been starting the truck on straight diesel until operating temp is achieved, and then switch to my rear tank (WMO blend). I switch back to the front tank (straight diesel) about 10 miles from home and shut it down on diesel. I've been mixing 10 gallons of used oil (a mix of 10w30, 15w40, and a small about of ATF) with 8 gallons of diesel and 2 gallons of the gas/diesel mix that was in the truck when I got it (It's almost all used up now... WooHoo!).

I've been running a little more than 50% ATF with #2. The ATF seems easier to start on than WMO.

I've ran 100%, or close to it, since April, but have been blending fuels for about 2 years now and I'll say that I've had several GP's burn out this year and the engine misses sometimes at idle from all the carbon buildup and wear on the IP and injectors. Running 100% will cause fuel system wear over time. I'm going to be experimenting with a water injection and different injectors to see if it helps any.

My experience is similar to Steve's. My WMO is a blend of toxic waste. I mix about 30 gallons to 6 gallons of diesel. Starts are very ******* cold days, so I've backed off until I get a dual tank setup going on the Moosestang.

wow lots of folks running 100% I feel better not being that far out on the bleeding edge...

That said I found a local-ish coop selling filtered, titrated and dewatered SVO for $1.00/gallon - I might just be tempted...

I just somehow get the feeling WVO is harder on the engines than WMO...

maybe and then again maybe not. wvo is a filtered food grade oil, i.e. its safe (or at least was) to consume. wmo on the other hand is an internal engine lubricant that is formulated to "suspend" harmful byproducts of the internal combustion/ propulsion process.

In other words waste motor oil catches all the crap thats gonna destroy your engine and filtering it is gonna get some to most, but not ALL of this out.

Im running a 50/50 with #2 and used atf. I get used atf from work by the 5 gallon jug and drag it home. I need a better filtration setup, but at the moment I am trying to diag my truck. I think it has something to do with the mix and the junk in it but not sure. My truck randomly decides that it wants to buck and shake like there is air in the fuel system when decelerating from speed. if I hold the brakes for a second or two or get back on the throttle it usuallly calms down but sometimes I have to hold the clutch in and feather the throttle to get it to idle without dying, then rev match back to power. I have checked the system and have no air in it.

I am thinking that its the ip internally but dont have near the money to replace it so I just keep hoping today isnt the day she leaves me on the side of the road.

My experience with heated wmo is relatively good. Before I was heating my pickup and lines before the filter I had a couple of situations where the engine would rev and unrev at stops after heavy acceleration in the cold - seemingly a fuel starved engine. The oil I was using at the time was well filtered and dewatered, but of questionable provenance, e.g. it might have had random solvents in it.

I filter down to 1 micron and run the heated oil through a 6 micron Goldenroad 6 micron water block.

I now use oil from more reputable sources that I know is from well maintained vehicles. I can get my wmo to about 120-130 degrees before it hits the filter. I've timed my engine to what seems appropriate around 9 btdc. Runs like it's on diesel, with seemingly more power, but higher EGTs - except for the smell and the occasional surge in power - very rare but it happens - it's also momentary, like the pickup hits a strata of oil in the tank thats easier to pump or something.

I've pulled my injectors and gps after a few thousand miles on 100% wmo - the injectors look like they did when I put them in, and I lost a few gps before I properly timed my IP. Other than that seems like everything is OK. I'm going to add a 30 plate FPHE somewhere along the frame rail when I have enough scratch to do it after or around the holidays.

That said I just batered my way to a 100 gallon transfer tank so I can make my 1100 mile drive legs without stopping for fuel now which is very cool given that Wyoming, Montana and Idaho for some reason have ridiculously expensive diesel. Those poor ******** are paying 2.90/gallon and down here it can be had for about $2.25/gallon. Free is even better!

I don't even go through fuel filters very often either. I end up changing them preemptively to avoid having to stop in places not of my choosing to swap them. Given I get them for less than $5 on sale it doesn't hurt too much. I must mention I have a 2 tank setup and that I religiously start and stop on #2 dosed heavily with PS or DK.

So far the only issue I'm having with near 100% Watf is the fuel filter light coming on when it's cold and I first get on the highway.

The factory filter only has a couple thousand miles on it.

I'm filtering the watf on it's way into the tank with a marine fuel filter water separator that has a drain, and I let the barrels sit for days to settle before pulling anything out - and I don't pull off the bottom to minimize the risk of pulling water.

I may put a few gallons of diesel in to mix with the Watf - and see if that prevents the fuel filter light issue.

Has anyone else run into the fuel filter light problem?
(if I back off the throttle the light will go out)
