Injector line clamps?

I redid my return lines and had to replace #8 line because of a hood/cowl molding being all messed up and letting water drip on injector. So anyway.... I noticed there were spots on the original lines that there were obviously clamps at one time, and all of mine are gone. Is this a problem I should worry about?

Yes, the lines will crack eventually without the clamps. Im sure someone around here knows where to get them.

+1 on needing clamps: the lines will crack without them as the diesel “paint shaker” tends to work harden them if they move around too much. My 300SDL managed to crack a line even with the injector line clamps in place.

Appears CDD sells replacement injector line assemblies, complete with clamps, but not the clamps themselves.

You can buy a cheap set of clamps for $40 on amazon. I definitely do not recommend the cheap Amazon injection lines, but the clamps should be good to go.

Also, FWIW myself and others have had problems using the aftermarket injection lines for timing purposes, so if you ever need a new #1 line I highly recommend keeping the old one if only to use for timing. The #1 line can easily be removed and installed without removing anything else on the injection pump.

Basically with an aftermarket #1 line I was never able to get a stable reading at 2k RPM. And why did I need a new #1 line? Because somebody installed a new IP but forgot to install the line clamp that grabs onto the #1 line. Enjoy your new clamps.

I found a place that sold just the #8, but it does not line up like the old line. Was aluminized, dropped on perfect, but will be an issue when I get the clamps. I did save the old line.

When I replaced the #1 line I had the same issue. The line was not even close to fitting in the clamp. You can bend the lines a bit but I try to avoid that.

Were you able to bend that #1 line into shape to use a clamp, or are just running with that #1 outside your clamps?

In another thread, a poster used fishing line to measure the length of replacement injection lines. This seems like a good idea, but who's to say that the originals were OE given the age of our trucks?

I would not run even one without some sort of clamp on it. I would not even run the truck at all till I did something about it, they will crack, been there done that.

What I did till I got a new clamp, I took rubber fuel line, cut short pieces and then slit it down the side. Slipped those short pieces over the line and a adjacent line, and then used several wire ties to squeeze the lines together to support them. Seemed to work till I found a new clamp.
