Stop using ether you’re going to blow it up.
To each their own

Ether is a tool

So is a large impact wrench

Both can break things

Both have specific uses

Just my opinion, we can agree to disagree

In my previous tests I had fuel at injectors. Testing on Sunday I didn't on the first crank.
When I test with ether I disable the GPS.

I will do the jumper cable test, I understand the setup now.

All connections on the starter are good. Still waiting on my new one.

You didn't have white smoke coming out of the tailpipe. And you didn't have fuel coming out of the injector line. Sounds like you have a fueling problem. Ether is a fuel that you are adding manually to make it start.

I agree, but after a crank or two I do have smoke coming out and still no start. Gps I've tested half of them so far and they are getting red. My new starter just showed up but unfortunately I have to head out into the woods for a week of work. When check the filter in the morning before trying to start it is full of fuel. Guess maybe I need to put some clear lines in when I get back

No need. There are lots of things that can go wrong with the fuel supply system. But if you are getting white smoke, you are getting fuel. When you start getting white smoke, can you glow the plugs after that? I am hoping you have a manual button. Smoke and a little heat ought to get it going. If you are relying on the factory glowplug controller, then I have my doubts you will get it started.

It was not a joke. The local auto electrician told me, there is a lot of resistance in the old starter motor, and it really made a different with a piece of cable and a clamp, try it and you will never take off the cable again .

Looks like the f350 I fixed years ago. That thing never would start very well. Compared to mine, you could tell it did not crank over fast enough. It had a rebuilt starter on it, still did not fix it. So I took the starter off my truck and put it on the f350. Still cranked slow. Got to looking at it, the area where the starter bolted up was very corroded. I took a 4 inch grinder and reached up in there and knocked all that corrosion off. Bolted the original starter back on and it was fixed. Poor starter grounding was the cause. Looks like your added wire to the outside of the starter just goes around the problem. Whatever works.

Back in town for a night but don't have time to get starter. Kids pulled me away from the truck.

One thing I wanted to mention in case it means anything. After it's been running then shut off it will start on its own within 5-10 minutes. After that it won't

Has anyone mentioned possible hot start issue?
Try pouring a gallon of warm water on the pump next time it does this. Could be IP is tired.

Okay back in town. Got the new starter on yesterday, turns over like a champ but no start. Still starts with sniff of ether.

Drove it around today and noticed the following :
If engine is off for 10 minutes or less will start up right away.
Sits for 1-2 hours takes a few cranks to start.
Let it sit for 3 hours and would stay but had to press on the acceleetor to turn over.

Are these signs of air leak and fuel drain back? I replaced all the return line caps and have electric lift pump a while ago. Have not replaced the olives on filter to ip line.

Thinking of just redoing all the fuel and return lines and just run on the rear tank
