Power steering pump

My power steering pump (1993 f350) is shot and I need to change it out. I cant find any "how to videos" out there on how to do it. So far I've taken off the compressor. Anyone know of usefull videos on how to swap ot out?

Where in Texas are you located? My shop is north of San Antonio, and all I do is work on these IDIs.

You will need a power steering pulley puller to remove the pump. Typically I just remove the whole accessory bracket in the truck and work on it on the bench. I remove the pulley, remove the three bolts behind the pulley, remove the pump and install new pump. I press the new pulley on, pressure wash the area around the pump while everything is off, replace lines if needed, then install the accessories and connect the lines back to the pump. I like to fill the reservoir with atf before starting the truck and spin the pulley by hand for awhile to help prime it.

Thewespaul hows it going brother. Thanks for your response. You actually sent me a oil cooler bracket some time back. I'm from McAllen. What I'm having a hard time with is removing the actual bracket. I dont know the lay out of it so I'm confused what to remove. I just saw that the vacuum pump is attached to the same bracket.

Awesome, glad I’ve been a help, sorry lots of names of customers to keep up with. Hope the oil cooler treated you well.

I typically remove the four bolts holding the ac compressor and set aside with the lines connected so you don’t have to worry about charging. Vac pump can come off but I typically leave it on. You will need to pull the tensioner and idler to get to the bolts holding the aluminum bracket on.

Actually no. I'm still in the process. I removed the entire aluminum bracket. removing the bolt behind the idler pulley was a pain as I could only wrench it out with quarter inch turns. I couldnt remove the idler pulley with the T-50. After that, I removed the entire bracket. I then removed the Power Steering pump pulley (last night actually). I started to remove the 3 bolts that hold the pump and bracket. Sure enough, the last bolt snapped. I called it a night. I gotta run to the parts store and buy an extractor.

Sorry to hear about your bad luck. That would NOT be much fun to remove that hidden bolt that way either. I hope you can get the pulley removed while it's all out of the truck so it will go back together easier for you.
