Especially with the oil consumption of mine. I do like to add lucas oil stabilizer though, which drives up cost.

Mine doesn't use much about 2 qt in 3k miles and I use store brand 15-40 all year even when cold I just like to give the old truck a few min to get warmed up and lubed when it's very cold out

About a month ago when it started getting cold I put some anti fuel gel in the tank and ran it just a little bit. Then I didn’t run it again until this happened. Could that have anything to do with what happened? If my injectors or IP are bad could that have got in the fuel and caused this?

I don't think the anti gel caused this problem and guessing by your use of a additive for anti gel it's cold well rubber gets harder and briddle (hope I spelled that right) and i feel the age and cold caused this lift pump to fail Also I use a antigel in the winter with a anti iceing additive due to how cold and the humidity and have never had an issue with the lift pump except if the truck sat for a long period of time

Hi in the Cascades, Nearly- Redmond,Oregon
. What oil do you guys recommend.

For a idi, whatevers cheapest.

Back in '90 when I bought my first new '90 IDI my "Glove Box Book" said to use 30wt CD/SF Oil. Now we got oils with all kind of alphabetical & number designations. Sure there are better oils today, & some better for turbo'ed applications. But I keep thinking about that CD/SF
recommendation back then. Today I use Wallyworld 15/40, Mobil Delvac 15/40....whoever somewhat cheapest.

EDIT: & I do like a touch of Lucus Additive. & BTW, oil is cheap in the big pic.... I've always believed in changing oil 2500-3500 mi & make 'em last.
But per your pic, it do look like water in the oil to me.

Finally got around to doing a coolant pressure. Hooked it up and pumped it up to 15lbs and it didn’t drop at all. Planning on changing the CDR valve next and see if that fixes the problem. Any other suggestions?

To me it sounds like you got the engine hot, it lifted a head a blew some combustion gasses and coolant into the oil, it cooled off and it’s sealed now. Change the oil if you haven’t already, and install a mechanical coolant temp gauge so you can monitor that. To test to see if the cdr is keeping up, take the oil fill cap off with the engine idling and slowly raise the engine rpms. The blow by should decrease to the point where nothing is coming out around 1500 rpms. If it doesn’t, you either have excessive blow by from a worn out engine or your cdr isn’t working properly.
