    Hey there, looking for SKimball

Who me? Ain't been around these parts in a long time. Lost all interest in cars and trucks and fuel costs and spent the summer tearing about Portland on an ancient Honda motorcycle. Russ found me, but I only checked in here after I got the nice little happy b-day notice from the Oilburners gang...

    Gauges....

I'd choose a real water temp gauge over an oil pressure gauge. But that's just me and I only ruined one engine after it got way too hot.

    hypermax turbo

Um, yeah. Or should I say hell yeah.:D

    Interesting Find

Or as they say it there, its Spanish Fark and American Fark. I bought my last IDI just outside American Fark from a guy named Garn Arnold. Very hard r's in those parts.

    A couple new vids

Once again Justin, bitchin' rig you got there. ;Sweet Kid siblings are good for something other than just being punching bags sometimes.LOL

    Weird Starting?

Yeah, I wouldn't go dumping water on a good IP until you make sure your electrical and starting systems are up to snuff. Seems I have heard around here that the water trick is more of a last resort deal.

    Check this out

That is one amazing truck but that hood is a lousy idea.

Trying to get my turbo off

The hardest part is either separating the up-pipe halves or removing the 4 bolts on the exhaust flange. You must do either one or the other. The top up-pipe piece will come out with the turbo without undoing the 4 exhaust bolts if you can free it from the lower piece. But one of those 4 bolts is...

Cheap Banks kit in Portland area

Saw this on CL just now. You-pull-it Banks turbo for $495. http://portland.craigslist.org/clc/pts/625298304.html

    Looky here

Well hell, man, give him a shout and get the scoop about the truck and the turbo set-up and shoot me a PM. ;Sweet My next couple days are too busy. I found an '85 extended cab with an old school ATS and a supposedly bad head gasket a few weeks back for $1200, but it had a C6 and that's...

    Looky here

I have been putting off calling that guy all day long. I reeeeeaaaally want to buy another diesel and make my own fuel. But damn do I hate turning wrenches these days. Not enough time anymore. Maybe I'll call him tomorrow...;Really

    "0" boost

Make sure you don't have any leaks in the line to your gauge.

Got K&N air filter and a turbo...

I don't know if I'd be so quick to point the finger at the K&N. I only ran the K&N for a couple thousand miles before I pulled it off, and then sold the turbo to Robert shortly thereafter. That stupid ATS air box in the Utah desert where that truck used to live seems like a more likely culprit...

    CA to OH itinerary

Taking the Mapquest route will take you past some of my favorite scenery in America, but it will wear you out in a N/A diesel truck in the mountains. If you're in no hurry, I'd say go for it, but if time and energy is an issue and you just want to get home I'd go the route that Sam suggested.

    My processor stuff

You gotta remember, most people are like sheep, gladly paying high pump prices without adjusting their lifestyles, much less going through the trouble of wading ankle deep in used fryer grease to make their own fuel. But that's a whole 'nother rant... Don't pay for it. Free oil is out there...

    My processor stuff

Justin, there's a few things to consider when it comes to scoring WVO. Here's my take. First off, you need to avoid hydrogenated and partially hydrogenated oils. They're bad- thick, nasty, fatty goop that doesn't lend itself well to any part of this process from the fryer to your tank. Go in...

    Anybody converted to SVO yet?

Considering all the work you've been through with your truck plus the fact that you already have the reg. return line kit, it will be easy to convert your truck. I think you should actually be able to use the standard Greasecar truck kit since you have the return line kit already installed. Any...

    Anybody converted to SVO yet?

Both the Greasecar and Frybrid kits work great, though they are a PITA to install on the Superduty's . However, that guy from Frybrid is a :Whatever:. I would personally never do any further business with him and will discourage others from doing so if at all possible. I had a part that was bad...

Bought the 86 f350, swap begins

Um, who are 'they'? I've never seen or heard of a PSD being swapped into an older Ford. Maybe you should get the ol' tape measure out and utilize these available complete wrecked donors you have at your disposal and compare the measurements and clearances with your '86.

Need some advice on 94 idi.....

I'd say the price sounds fair and not worry too much about it seeming too cheap. If you want to spend more money, I'm sure you can find a lesser deal out there for the extra $$$.LOL I searched high and low before I found the old man selling the 4wd Supercab '91 with ATS turbo, 5 speed and...

Need some advice on 94 idi.....

Other than the ridiculous lift, sounds like a good rig. I'd go for it. Turbo IDI's with 5-speeds make for great trucks.

Bought the 86 f350, swap begins

I also don't want to seem rude, but it does seem you are biting off a big mouthful. It's apparent that hardly anyone around here has the answers to the questions you keep asking, and no one can really answer how hard it is. Since you're worried about 'how hard', if I were you I would have found...

Truck is back on the road but may have a problem

Drive it like you stole it for at least ten miles to get all the air out. If it don't clear up then look further.

Thoughts on nv4500 5 speed upgrade

I had the Gear Vendors/ZF5/4:10 combo in my turbo '91. It was perfect. That truck never saw over 2100 rpm's and got 17-18 mpg both in town and doing 75 down the highway.
