didn't start out cheap. It was bought to be DD, and we had just bought a house so we needed a pickup. then I found out that I liked wheeling. Then tellico and a longbed box happened. then I just started cutting bits off that got in the way.:sly and it ended up like this...

I can't claim the idea. There were a few that came before me. I'm venturing into uncharted territory with vresion 2.0 though. http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/tow-rigs-trailers/969976-another-uhaul-toter-thread.html the jeep is a 500 pile of crap with thousands of dollars in axles...

the air compressor is fed pressured oil from the back, somewhere near the oil cooler. THen it drains into the pedestal (big hole) and te pedestal s attached to the block. I don't know if you'd be able to fit it in a pickup truck. It's also liquid cooled from the cooling system, so you'd...

you're going to need the clutch housing to use the trans. It's separate from the trans. You're going to have to drop the whole thing, unbolt the trans from clutch, then unbolt the clutch from the motor and leave it on the ground. I'l get you some pictures on my next afternoon off. be a...

you'd be good. I'm running a 4.30 rear end with 33'ish tires. I top out at 73 full on against the governor. now, at some point in it's life mine had a new IP put on, and since I don't have a tach or timing setup I'm not entirely sure on my max RPM, so I can't tell you if that's 2800 IH...

actually they're spicer units. granny low first Direct 5th, terrible gear split between 4th and 5th. they're SAE #2 clutch housings. mechanical 14' clutches. anyway it's most of what you need to put a regular MDT trans of your choosing behind it. The clutch housing is the crucial...

    2013 IDI WEEKEND

12ft tall 100" wide 33ft long it may be flatbedded by that time as I'm in the middle of version 2.0 with an ambulance body as an extended sleeper/camper. about 6K on the rear axle empty. I may show up just to see if some IDI gurus can look it over. Taking that thing cross country to...

    Junkyard IDI ZF-5s galore!

How close are you to Ohio? and does anyone think that the ZF trans would hold up to 26K lbs of GCVW? I NEED an OD tranny for my MDT toterhome, and if a ZF-5 will take the abuse it seems the easiest way to get one. WHat yoke is on the back of it, and is there a 1480 one available? sorry...

How much weight off the back bumper?

it's probably got some sort of frame extension as well. They're usually not that strong, which is why a lot of campers have paltry tow ratings. Check the splice very well, reinforce as needed before you hang 800 lbs off the back.

What do you think? Feelin stacks?

They certainly do make flappers: http://www.iowa80.com/DirectionsWEB/webcart_search.php?scr_searchArg=Rain+Caps&cart_truckType=&search.x=0&search.y=0 that said, I think stacks are horrible. but I'm an "all go no show" kind of guy. if you do stacks, jst go ahead and welcome yourself to this...

solid pinion bearing spacer for differential?

no, you have to pull the pinion to remove any of the shims/spacer. But if you pull the pinion you can put it back in with the same spacers/shims and it stays consistent. Crush sleeves get used once, so if you have to pull the pinion for any reason you get to buy a new crush sleeve, then set it...

solid pinion bearing spacer for differential?

crush sleeves suck. Hard to get a consistent pinion preload, needs to be replaced if you have to take out the pinion for any reason and then reset to the hard to get preload. Generally find horrible times to fail while you're beating on the rear axle and wipes out the gear set. Solid spacers...

    air intrusion, sometimes

SO here's my issue. I have an International MDT with a N/A 7.3L It intermittently has air in the injection system. Classic starts, runs for 10 seconds then dies and takes some cranking. When I say intermittent it realy is. I had constant issues until I replaced the valve core in the...

    redoing fuel lines with steel??

ruber will be fine. If it has disconnect style clips at the fuel sender just slip the hose over the ridge and clamp it. When I make new fuel lines out of steel I use a brake flare tool to put a half flare on the end of the new steel line so there's a barb for the hose to slip over. Just make...

Got you jeep thing, RIGHT HERE!

My Jeep and International go together like peas and carrots. I can appreciate a hatred for any vehicle that has tried to kill you. It's just an XJ after all. Now had you ran over an MJ, well, then I would have been a little upset.

that's so close to me, but I have a standing wheeling event 4th of july in Harlan, KY. really sucks, i'd love to have my box truck timed properly, hell, we could roll it on the dyno if it wasn't so heavy.

    Help a newb.

it already has AC, it just needs a new condensor and recharged. baby steps. My wallet already hates me, but this build has been nothing but cash money funded, no credit for me. I'm still way under what my wife and I budgeted, so we can do some "niceties"

    Help a newb.

I imagine piloting a 32+ foot 4x4 would be interesting. you already saw what I did to a longbed pickup! just for grins. This is what the Comanche looked like when I bought it 5 years ago. I'm not much for sheetmetal I guess.

    Help a newb.

unfortunately someone blew up the rearend in this truck before it left uhaul. They replaced the 4.30 third member (rare as hen's teeth I'm finding) with a 5.57 rear end. I'm governor limited to 58 MPH. it brings the suck. My brother and I are researching 7 speed OD units to get us to 65 (72...
