Hey guys is there a tin plate between the trans and engine on these trucks. The 460 I have in it has one and I need to know if the diesel requires one or if it is just the lower cover as shown in the ford book, not a very good pic. I am getting ready to put in the new engine and want to have all the parts on hand .I have never payed attention when putting in a clutch, or the memory is failing cookoo
thanks in advance

there is a 1.5 inch approx plate in between, 2 bolts hold it to the block, the starter also bolts to it, the inspection cover is just the bottom, not the whole thing like the 460
also the 460 zf 5 wont work with a diesel, the bolt pattern is diiferent

I have the thick plate and my trans was a diesel, I machined it to fit the 460. Just need to know about the tin.
thanks

I recently converted my wife's '94 F350 from a E4OD to a ZF5 and I did not put the tin plate in.
I did the conversion about 7 or 8 months ago and have had no problems.

When I did the Lucky Mod on the Lady Moose, I don't remember seeing one. That doesn't mean it wasn't there. It could also mean Ford didn't put it back in when they did the clutch prior to my getting it. cookoo Either way, I don't think you need it. The C6 to 6.9 doesn't have one either, or if it does, then mine doesn't, and you don't need it. :D

Sounds good, I have this affinity for doing things right and just wanted to make sure.
Thanks and have a good weekend.
