The rear trans housing is crack on my f-350 4x4. argghhh!!!! Seems like one thing after another. gonna blame it on tax time .
So i am needing a rear trans housing for z7 speed s5-42. P art #is 7A039 i believe. Wondering where i can find one that they do not want my 1st child for payment .

are you rebuilding this?

why not try to repair it first, get someone to weld it?

I know someone that has one, but it's a 2wd tranny. If you are rebuilding it then it won't matter though, I think.

greywolf. is it by chance at the top--behind the shifter plate?

Reason I ask is when my case busted from a dual mass f/w
failure, the vibration caused a hairline fracture at the top.

I was able to sucesfully grind [abrade], wash down with brakleen and apply a product called "Labmetal"click here
This stuff can be machined, drilled and tapped etc

You will need the solvent/thinner to tool correctly and "push" into the area to be repaired.

Cost about $30 for both ....don't wast your time/money on JB weld or big box store epoxys........

The main output shaft in the transfer was bent. Vibration caused the the rear transmission case to crack around the mainshaft rear bearing.
I bought the truck as a basket case 6 months ago. So as i attempt to put the truck back into service , I am finding all the nasty lil bugs it has.
I am thinking about dismantling the transmission and taking the rear case 1/2 into Hutchinson to a welding shop and see what they think about the problem.
