Well its not a chevy guys.. Its a GMC... Gay Mans Chevy....... Does anyone actually know what GMC stands for... I kind of like what I see in the cab but sure would not like trying to fix anything electrical that goes wrong...

For the uneducated, a lot of these boards were started by guys who were computer savvy and liked their particular vehicles enough that they wanted to communicate and share with others. Now these big companies are coming along, taking a survey of how many members they have, and how much activity they have, and going to the original owners and making them offers to buy them out they can't refuse.

I bet the same people that bought this board, also own some other boards supporting Hondas, Chevy trucks, low riders, etc. They own multiple boards, and put the same ads on all the boards. How would you like to be Chevy and a salesman comes to you and says for "X" amount of dollars, we can guarantee your add will be seen by "x" number of people? It's all what goes on behind the scenes.

Then you have dummies like me, who moderate and have thousands of posts(on another board) and don't get paid a dime for it. But it's fun and a time killer for me.

Yeh, it's about money. Since the previous siteowner apparently had no ads, the new owner either wants to make a few bucks from the site operations, or, at least, lose less.

a couple forums I'm on have the videos that pop up and take over the screen for 30 seconds every page, and you have to watch it before you can do anything on the page

needless to say, I'm no longer extremely active on those forums

I will say I enjoy forums set up like iboats, where it is a company providing a forum that contributes to their sales, minimal ads and paid professionals to support it
