there's three different lengths out there. the housing is the determining factor for which one to use. get the whole enchilada and you won't go wrong.

Hers what you can do that will work fine. Look for a van idi or any van with a long stick. Then change oil in your rig. Now install the way too long stick till it hits the bottom of the pan. Remove and cut off the length that is too long for the engine. I refer to the length thats still not set on the tube. Cut that length off the end thats in the engine. It will still be too long but see where the oil is on it. then cut it off about 3 inches.

if you buy a complete assy: tube, bracket and dipstick, it doesn't matter if you are 6.9 or 7.3
