Here is Link for it running, my son slowed the video down so you can see the pulley better. I think change it?

I keep hearing chirps when turning wheels sharp or hitting turn stops. Been adding stop leak, think its time for power steering pump too, its original. So, looking at pulley puller kits. Any suggestions? Harbor Freight, Lisle, OTC, PowerBuilt?

I have the Napa/Lisle 39000 puller set. I have used it with great success with v-belt vacuum pump pulleys and a v-belt Saginaw P/S pump pulley.

The Napa branded one costs more but they may have them in stock in store and say lifetime warranty. That's how I got mine when my F250 vac pump went. It was still cheaper than paying a shop. I've used it twice more since then so it has more than paid for itself. Lisle ones are identical but cost less online. Trying to claim warranty might be harder. My Napa one has held up well though.

The free rental pulley pullers of a similar design wouldn't fit the pulley's concave shape.

OK, ordered this one from Amazon, identical kits were a lot more money, others had less tools. I will buy the power steering pump from AutoZone, in stock with lifetime warranty. So I'll be using the new tool kit, will post here if it worked. Also need to order pressure line, figure might as well as they are original too.

That looks very close to the $20 HFT one, which only has one less piece.
Ouch, well the closest HF is about an hour drive, my luck the adapter needed will be the one HF didn't add to it, Lol
I can still cancel order I guess, but if I buy the HF and not correct adapter, it'll be another 2 hour drive. I know, tuff decision.

It seems those pulleys are pressed on really tight. So using anything besides a power steering pulley puller is asking for trouble. Upside is you just need a vacuum pump. A new booster would of likely cost more and been harder to replace.

Sorry was out of town when you asked. But OTC has a good PS puller/pusher. But if Napa has a lifetime warranty I would go with that since it is easy to strip these out.

The Napa/Lisle 39000 kit works great. It pulls and pushes on the center of the pulley so no risk of bending. Used 3 times to remove and install pulleys and it's still good as new.

Drove to AutoZone in the next city and picked up the vacuum pump pulley. It cost $47.99, that's almost as much for the vacuum pump!
Then went to O'Reilly and bought the power steering pump w/resovoir for $53.99. I'll check RockAuto for pressure hoses and return, maybe less expensive.

That's why it's best to buy the proper tool to begin with, it costs less than the pulley. Lisle 39000 is $45 and is confirmed to work with (at least v-belt) IDIs.

Here is puller at Summit. I paid $32 on Amazon for a larger kit. Yes, correct tool for the job. I hope AutoZone learned something.

They learned a pulley gets sold if they bend one.

That Summit kit looks identical to Lisle/Napa 39000 except for the case color. (Edit: oh it even says it's Lisle)

I made them pay for the pulley.

Ahhh I missed that part. Good on you. The Napa counter worker used the brand new tool kit to remove the pulley right in the store and I gladly bought the tool kit right after. I had pulled the pump off out in the parking lot and carried it in. I already had the new pump I bought from O'Reilly.

Received larger kit, total junk. Tools look to be casted, many pits in between threads. Shipping it back today, ordered the Lisle 39000 instead.

Received the Lisle 39000 kit last night. Definitely made better and only one tool needed to remove/install pulley. It was about $8 more than the Chinese made kit.
