Ok here is my question. My 1993 7.3l factory turbo, for some time now when it starts will white smoke and idle real rough but not quite a miss i dont think. Here is the kicker, it only does this after its warmed up and you shut it down for a amount of time. If you fire it right back up it wont do it and if you let it cool completely down it wont do it. and it just does it for a period of time before it clears up. I really dont have a problem with cold starts and even when it acts up i can bring it off idle and it will stop until i let it idle again. Any ideas ive already replaced the injector retutn lines, caps and o-rings .

It sounds like Your getting air intrusion somewhere. Install a clear line from the #1 return to the fuel filter header. Try and duplicate the problem while watching the clear line for air bubbles.

How old are the injectors and IP, are they factory? It sounds like fuel issue with white smoke and poor idle. A warm IP that is worn can act this way. A classic fuel leak will cause hard starting when the truck is cold or has sat for a while. But, it doesn't sound like that is what you are experiencing.

My vote is IP. Sounds like he is on his way to a heat soak issue. Don't be surprised if soon it doesn't start at all when hot and has sat for 20 minutes.
