where to get an alternator alternator?

Where is the best place to get a alternator for my 86? Advanced wants $91 but it is nothing special. Is there a better one to be had?

Go to Ford for the good stuff. Or go to checker for the life time cheap stuff. It won't last as long but the warranty helps a lot when you need to replace it. P.S. Checker is also called Advanced Auto, Shucks, Kragen, and Star depending on where you are.

Read the article, but it didn't say 'why' or what the benfits are. I assume It is because it is more powerfull, and changes to an internal regulator?

I have a few used ones.
but the way to go is the internal reg `130
for more power, and less hassel.

Woops I thought I was still on STD and so posted a yahoo search link.

The 3G produces more peak power, and starts producing power at a lower RPM. They are also more plentiful than the original alternators on the earlier trucks.
