Recently I had the bearing lock up on my 3G swapped alternator which caused the pulley on the alternator to be loose and spin on the shaft which wore the center hole in the pulley quite a bit larger. Ended up buying a whole original 1g alternator just to get a new pulley as well as buying a new 3G (Taurus) alternator. After a gigantic debacle with Fedex delivering the new 1G alternator to the wrong address I didn't want to spend the money on another entire alternator, so I took measurements and after a bunch of searching I found a replacement pulley for the alternator.

This is a link to the pulley for anyone who has this problem in the future. I'm sure the link won't work forever so I'll also leave all the relevant part numbers and measurements. Hopefully it saves someone from having to buy an entire alternator.

This post just saved my ass! Had the exact same issue happen to me on my new to me 7.3, causing the pulley to fly off while driving and took the threads and belts with it.

Wow I’ve never in my whole life or any car I’ve ever worked as a mechanic of over 35years had an alternator lock up. You can just buy the pully from oriellys. Any one that sells the 1g alternator can get the pully. The new pully would also come with a lifetime warranty.
