Where did you get your battery cables?

After my starter issues I've decided to replace my battery cables "just because" and I've found about 10 different websites with reputable reviews. Just wondered if there was a common go to anyone has used before and would recommend more then something else.

I don't even think mine are bad, but with the replacement starter having been deemed defective and dying out after a month, I figured now that I have another good one in place I might as well swap the cables just to know it's done right as batteries are also new.

I also have a tentative idea to put dual batteries in the F250 with the 300 straight six if I can find a place to put it. Possibly shove the radiator overflow and windshield fluid container up towards the cab or something and re-use the old wire from Ernest if the new wire doesn't seem to be any different.

If anyone has added a second battery to a straight six before I'd love to here how you did it. It's my freezing cold bad winter weather vehicle and with all the lights on it and the conditions it drives in, it can't hurt to have a second in there.

several members have posted about great replacement cables, my 67 had acres of spare room for a second battery, but with cal weather, never needed it.

Build your own. 2/0 or 3/0 power cable (or welding cable) and proper terminal ends. Cut cable to length and use a center punch to crimp the cable ends on. I like to back-fill the ends with solder and then heatshrink them to help prevent corrosion.

Not the cheapest way to do it... but not too bad. It can be really cheap if you happen to know anyone that works for an industrial construction outfit. Just ask for a piece or two of damaged 2/0 welding lead. I was given over 100'

I built mine out of welding cable, cant remember the gauge size but it is the next size up from factory. Welding cable is very fine strand with heavier shielding, kind of a pain to soldier. I did solid copper ring terminals and raychem weather proof shielding.

Mine were installed 04/87 at the Michigan plant. ;Sweet

I have a spool of 6/0 welding cable I got one helluva deal on a few years ago, I'll make new ones from that when I get around to it.

The orielys super start cables did wonders. 2/0 All the way through. With 4 gauge for truck power. Made my truck crank alot better. I'm prolly going to run another 2/0 to the starter next winter but leave it for now. For $85 great cables.
