My truck starts every time, run good and has power, but has 284000 miles on it. Unknown miles on the IP and fresh remand injectors. Reason I'm asking is because sometimes starting off at a green lite it leaves smoke clouds driving normal and other times not. Seems to change with pedal possition. Idles clear and smooth.??

Sounds like you need not mess with success. A haze of smoke under acceleration is normal behavior for these engines. Poor power, hard starting hot and or cold are signs of a worn pump.

A really good rebuild like a Moose or Baby moose might find some lost power or fuel economy that has slipped away so slowly you haven't missed it, but if it were mine I'd run it till there were signs of trouble. What you describe is normal. These trucks are old and a few puffs of smoke on hard acceleration or on startup are ok. Smoke all the time means something isn't as good as it should be. 100K miles seems to be the average lifespan of a good well cared for pump, but many, many guys have gone 300,000 or more on the same pump and others who are equally conscientious owners have had to replace or had to live with a bad pump at less than 100K.
