What the Heck is This?

I have had two of these trucks. I had a 1986 F250 and now this 1987 F350 that have this weight on the bottom of the cross member under the transmisson. What the heck is it for? Sorry I just tried to upload a photo twice, but it keep telling me there is an error. I tried a lower resolution, but it didn't work either. Thanks for any help.

It is suposed to cancel out vibration. I have removed a few and noticed no difference. Sometimes they hang em on exhaust bracket too.

That's your epiglotis. I think it is there mostly to take some of the bang out of the shifts on an automatic. I haven't seen a Ford truck with an automatic that doesn't have one. Even the 02' Excursion has it.

My 94 dont have one, that dont mean it wasnt removed before I got it though. My friends 90 250 w/ZF5 has one.

Not to hijack the thread or anything, but do you still have the motor mounts and frame stands that were under the '92 460 in your signature?

My 03 Ex with the TorqShift 5 Speed Auto has one.

I have the frame brackets, they're still on the frame. The motor mounts went with the engine.
