What is this in the injector

So to get back on topic. I apologize for the incorrect cylinder. Yes it is #4. What does it exactly do and why only one cylinder? How does it affect injector timing?
The fitting is for a timing device that no one seems to have. Most timing devices you use now just go around the plain part of the tubing.

Just like you put a timing light on #1 sparkplug wire, to set the timing on a diesel they put a sensor around the fuel injection tubing to sense the fuel injection pulse. It actually senses the line shake as the fuel is pushed through at 1800 psi.

You can actually connect the wires from a pulse style timing meter to it, and it triggers the box. It is a piezo sensor, just like the little piezo clamp that is ised with a pulse box.

Thanks for the info. We are replacing the injector seals and hoses, and I didn't know if I had to remove that as well. I personally used to own an 86 6.9 IDI, but it's been so long ago, that I couldn't remember if my truck had one of these on it or not.
