I really wish there was a list of gear options and combinations that would correct the speedo with gear and/or tire size changes, but I've never seen one. I'm watching this thread to see what surfaces, and I would love to know what gears to use on my '86 with 37's.

Here you go,

http://www.partsmike.com/tech-help/speedo-gear-calc/

Internet is your friend, BTW I believe ford uses mostly a 7 tooth drive gear, and the speedo is calibrated with a 1000 revolutions per mile.

Then go here to find the gear you need,

http://www.transmissioncenter.org/Ford_Speedometer_Gears.htm

EDIT- looks like its an 8 tooth drive gear for borg warner transfer cases, you can tell my looking down the hole and seeing what color it is...

37s and what gearing? With 37s and 3.55s (T19 and BW T-Case) I used the 16 tooth 'wine' colored gear, and it was about perfect.

I've since swapped out to 4.10s, so I need to switch to I believe a 19 tooth gear. Anyone want to trade? :D
