Driving to work this morning I ran out of fuel because apparently the new cluster I installed is actually empty at 1/4 tank..... So get the wife to pick me up and grab some diesel, go to prime the truck and just when I start to get some fuel coming out of the filter bleeder valve it dies on me. Wish I would of put the water seperator with the hand primer onto my daily driver an not my 4x4 that is dead with head gasket issues. Time for an electric pump I'm thinking.... Have heard there's a starter off of a case loader that will work for these anyone know the part number? I work at a case construction dealership so it would be quick and easy to get

An electric lift pump is one of the best modifications we can do for these engines. Run out of fuel.. No problem. turn ignition switch to run and listen to the pump. open schrader valve till only fuel comes out. then crank. It will fire up in a few seconds.

Installed a new starter on the side of the highway today, missed work but used the company truck with my tools so no big deal there. But found out my lift pump quit on me... Driving beautiful down the highway this morning to giving it a bit of throttle on a hill and then abruptly dying. So tomorrow I am ripping the lift pump off the dead 4x4 because I have a 5-700km drive scouting for snow geese (that's another obsession in its own and supply's 1/4 of our meat each year) but am going to ditch the mechanical pump and go electric. Best brand and deals on pumps anyone?

Auto zone and oriellys usually have electric diesel fuel pumps for 50 or so bucks,
Look in the idi tech articles should be the third one from the top tells you how to install a facet dura lift pump
Last time I checked it was around $120,

NAPA is the closest thing to a big auto parts chain store around here so I will most likely end up ordering a pump online. It's been snowing since 7pm and it's after 3am right now and still coming down hard so it will be a late start to the day getting the truck going. Got to love break up in the spring work is so dead time off is almost a given now, but being snow goose season I'd rather not be fixing the truck but what do ya do

I'm running a 6.5 GM electric pump on my 89, much quieter than the Holley Red on my 86 and works fine so far.

We are running 4 of the cheap DB starters and have only lost one so far, it was a year old. I'm sure at that cheap of a price, they are probably crappy starters but they are light weight and the price is right and oh do they spin fast.
