WEIRD AXLE NUTS

Newer ford lock nuts

I have seen them, I dont rember what year but they are self locking.
Maybe on the rear of my 91 F350???

ops I just answered the same thing there :rolleyes: . I have them on mine and they are not uncommon, You use a special socket to lock them back in 3 steps, You can get it at most autoparts stores off the shelve.

one goes to the parts store and buys one :dunno Seriously, I have never seen an alternative.

I believe I will stick with the two nuts with folding-tab lock-washer set-up.

They are like a BRNO 98 Mauser, hard to improve upon.;Sweet

The socket is around 12 bucks give or take a little. I just bought one for my neighbors truck. I tried the screwdriver and hammer but those lock nuts hold pretty good!!!-cuss

Get the socket. It's going to be pretty hard to use a torque wrench with a chisle. LOL You need to tighten it to spec (60 pounds maybe?) and then back it off 3 clicks.... or something like that.
