Is 220 too high for an IDI? It warms up quickly to that temp and stays right there. I thought that was a normal running temp for good efficiency?

Or...save some money and use street elbows!

2" pvc 90* street elbow. The "street" means that one side is no-hub, i.e. the same diameter inside and out as 2" pipe. Should be around $2 a piece at a hardware store. Cut it to achieve the angle you want for best viewing of gauge from driver's seat, carefully trim again to match the contour of the pillar, and use weatherstripping to "finish fit" on the edge of your cut where it meets the pillar. Spray paint and drill a hole perpendicular to pillar for mounting (I tapped a hole in the metal of the pillar and used SS screws). Voila! The $2 pillar pod.

Sorry to hijack the thread.

220 degrees is not too high for an idi 250 and up is too high but some have run that high without issues too. Whats your thoughts about this gauge.

I have that gauge installed in my truck. Works just great. Reacts to changes in temperature quickly. Only thing is, the gauge being mechanical, on hot days it will read the cab temperature. Just fine once the engine is to temp, but something to mention.

The tube was long enough to go from my dash near the door down under the dash, through the firewall, and to the factory overtemp spot.

I finished up the install and hooked up my guage today. I drove the truck about 10 miles at 55mph and only seen a reading of 185 for temp. My factory guage don't move much either. It was about 35 degrees out.

I have a new thermostat and water pump to put in we will see what it is after that's done.
