Anyone know what this sensor is on top of the water pump, just replaced my water pump and this one is stuck: pretty beat up, thanks.

My guess would be that the square headed plug that's supposed to be there wasn't there for some reason and it was put in to plug the hole. On the other hand, I put the sender for the factory temp gauge there in my Blue Truck. I installed the probe for the mechanical temp gauge in the spot for the factory sender. I also lengthened the wire and plugged it on to the sender so that my factory temp gauge still moves the needle (as opposed to saying that it "works"). Maybe this is why it's there?
