Water Pump Humms

When I had my fan belt off I spun the fan with my hand and the water pump made a good humming noise. I had been hearing a humming noise while driving but never thought much of it. I figured the pump must be bad so I drained the coolant to change it. With no coolant the pump makes zero noise when spun? Was it just a wayer turbulence sound? Should I bother changing it?

Good idea. I can wiggle it a very tiny bit.

Then I would maybe go ahead and replace it.
