I can just barely hear it over the usual engine noise but it's there. Doesn't seem to do it while driving, at least not that I can hear. It's rhythmic but not constant, if that makes sense. Sorta sounds like a marble in there. What is it?

seriously tho...how old are your injectors? it is possible that one is getting weak and is popping earlier than the others.

not sure if yours has a DMF but if it does it could be that coming apart in there mine has a slight tick to it at idle but i can give it just a little fuel and it goes away and when I take off I can hear it chattering

I would just get rid of that truck ASAP. Don't wanna take a chance of it blowing up on you. then you will have plenty of extra money to buy my IDI... Just kidding, I think the others are right, probably a weak injector, doubt you have a REAL knock.. These engine make too much noise to comprehend what a LITTLE knock would be. Scotty

I don't know how old the injectors are, but they were next on the list to go, along with the IP. Probably over 100k on everything. I have noticed it not running as strong & the black smoke has decreased a great deal.

Scotty, what's this noise? Buy my IDI? Nonsense.

Scott, I have an injector tester if you want to check them out.

The "noise" is a running joke between the Scott's. I wish I could buy it though.

I appreciate the offer Mel. I'm not sure it's worth the time though. I know now that the IP is original & I have no record of the injectors ever being done in the file I got from the FD. I should have refreshed everything pre-turbo install but it was running pretty well at the time. I knew this was coming, just didn't know how it sounds. I would hope to make it through the winter on these injectors & IP. If I have noise now, what are the chances of that being possible? I only drive the truck about 100 miles a week, if that.

How 'bouts I haul every vehicle you own out to the tarheel including the trailer & you pay me with the IDI? ;p :D . Think how much less aggravating the move will be knowing your vehicles are being expertly handled from sea to shining sea, & I'll just continue on home with the payment chained down. Then, you have more driveway room, Mel wouldn't have to listen to the banter anymore & I would have my new IP & injectors before winter is out!!

It will only cost about 2800.00 in fuel, out & back. Sounds like a good deal for........I mean to me. LOL

That doesn't help with my injector issue. Besides, that jeep can't be taking up as much driveway room as the truck. Happy New Year fellas.
