Unknown electronics?

I've been quite busy under the hood lately, and discovered this piece of electronics, Passenger side, front of the engine, about at the foot of the injector pump. just at the end of a string of cables.

Does anyone recognise this? or at what it serves?

That amplifies the signal from the water in fuel sensor and lights up the warning light on the dash. I haven’t seen one with a transparent cover, I wonder if yours got replaced somewhere along the way.

??? I don't know, until two years ago I still had the factory installed (and still painted in the original engine paint) fuel filter installed

Did you cut it open and see what it looked like inside? I’d be curious as heck

yes, nothing special, little amber/brownish discolorisation, but other than that, nothing wrong. my truck has until now only a little over 10300 original miles.
