The oil drain must be lower than turbo or a scavange pump must be added.

There can be no back pressure there.

Re-route the hose so it flows down hill only or change how you are mounting it so it ca drain.

Right now itnis not a drain it is a container.

I was wondering the same thing.. As far as wether or not there was to much resistance for it to drain properly.
I seen where others had routed their drains similar to this, but I don't think they had as many high spots in their line, I can't understand how the oil won't drain freely through the line espically with oil pressure on the other side
But I'm going out right now and shorten this drain line, I'll try just about anything to cure this.
I have a 2000 7.3 250 sitting in the garage needing a torque converter
Too much to do, and no time

I might wind up having to back up and punt, and run the drain through the valley pan....... That would suck seeing how I've already got everything back together

There has to be ZERO resistance....that return line cannot pool oil ever...so think...uphill downhill sidehill driving and if any of that couod cause line to fill it will force oil out seals due to the restrictive nature of plugging line.

WARNING

If it pools in the line and you force oil out seals you likely have just trashed your engine due to high likelyhood of runnaway from oil and self feeding.

Willing to gamble your engine?

Just sayin

I think it would definitely pool off road, given the right angle
So I might be better off to look into plugging it into the valley..............

I was going to do it that way on mine and decided against it. I did this because I couldn't figure out how to get it over there.

That looks really good

So it just runs through the grommet right?

No problems with leaks?

I'm thinking of doing something similar
I have the rubber cap grommet that's made to seal it off
I'm thinking of slicing a small hole just big enough for the braided line to fit through, then RTV around the line
I have my crankcase ventilation working really well
So I'm hoping this will work

I also hope that I haven't damaged the seals in the turbo due to it not draining properly.

Best I can remember the seals were metal rings, so I wouldn't think that they would incur any damage, but just push oil past

This is really a nice idea. Also it clearly shows the hex drain plug in the back of the valley pan area.:thumbsup:

The drain plug is actually 3/8 square Gary. The old one I had was so rusty and dirty, I didn't know it was square until I sandblasted it. LOL

I actually made that plug from scratch.

Well
I successfully rerouted the oil return into the valley
Still leaking, not as bad, but still leaking.
I'm thinking I'll go ahead and run the exhaust, then see how if it still leaks.
If so, I guess I'll be needing a new center unit for the turbo
