truck crane location?

noooo man i aint making 4 posts for it lol. Also dont want it on the rear corner 1) because it doesnt look good lol 2) woudl apply a nice twisting force on the frame, unless i made a jack for under it. but *** will rust up and get coated with mud from tire spray. 3) the posts will ge tin the way when loading certain things, and could make loading annoying. Particularly why i like the flatbed so much, you just slide things on and off from any direction

A tag line feeding power to crane...it would be long enough to reach all 4 locations...

Log tongs are great for skidding out of a forest, but they can leave fairly deep gouges on the wood, and also at times are a real pain to get out should they bury themselves in too deep(soft woods). Imo, I'd go with a chain choker; just got to unhook it, and use the crane to winch it out from around the log. Chokers won't scar up the wood too bad, but if you're really picky about scarring up the log(for milling), use straps, but they take a lot more time.
As far as placement, I really like the idea of it at the headache rack area.

friend had one of those cranes on his truck, we lifted an idi with it and it bend the crap out of the bed. Not sure if he had it installed wrong but basically I layed in the bed and pushed it out with my legs. He sold that truck later on so who knows. Just some thoughts 
the the crane survived, but bent the bed then thats fine! Id never lift anythign over 2-300 pounds with it mounted in the pickup bed as in the HF image, unless it had a drop leg under it. stock beds are super flimsy sheet. Me, i dont gotta worry about bed flex, 4" c channel perimited with 13, 3" cross C channel beams
