transmission blues

my 91 ford 4*4 diesel runs well shifts well but when im over 50 mph or so i kickdown it goes in neutral . if i let up on the pedal press the o/d button and then go it is ok.i changed the tps had the pressur checked was told the tranny wasnt old . im thinking an electrical problem since the o/d is electric anybody had the same problem thanks jeff

Try the tach sensor.

"Replace the tach sender on the oil fill housing a big 1" nut with 2 wires. Ford only part Engine RPM sensor E5TZ-17B384-A about $50."

now i say this completly jokingly and in the spirit of a true nascar fan i hope you can laugh, but try painting over the 24 with a number 48 and i promise it will cure the problem.... until next season.
