Hey everyone so I am doing e40d trans swap to a zf5 and I have one question. I need to get my rear driveshaft extended since I can't find a correct donor truck. I 92 f250 ext cab long bed 7.3 going from e4od to zf5. But for the question how many inches do I need to extanded my current shaft? Thanks everyone

Install everything and then measure or if your ballsy you can measure the difference in the e4od vs zf5 and do it that way since the transfer cases are the same and you have a 2 piece drive shaft

Second putting the drive shaft in and measuring how short it is, for all intent and purpose though all you need to measure is the short shaft. Separate it and put it in with the slip yoke where you want it travel wise and measure the carrier bearing mounting holes center to center to get what you need. Drive line shop is probably going to retube it btw.

I got lucky and had a zf5 ext cab driveline and needed to shorten the front half for my e4od to zf5 swap on my CCLB. It came from a 95 psd zf5 truck. I was surprised to find out ext cabs and CC use different bearing carrier position
