Trailer Brake Wiring

I was looking at installing a new trailer brake controller and there is a 3 wire trailer brake harness with a round plug on it down where the speedometer cable comes through. The P/O just cut the wires and left them hanging does anyone know where these wires connect to a new controller. Thanks Skip

Without knowing what colors, and so on, I'd say take your new controller and look at the wiring diagram. Often times it will have what colors the wires are from the truck since so many trucks come with the option to have controllers hooked up.
I have a prodigy 3, and the P/O of my truck (93 F350 CC dually) left the wires cut as well. To my surprise, the prodigy controller diagram had a pic of the diag for fords and I simply matched the colors.

Never trust some wire hanging under the dash to be properly wired, crimped/soldered, heat-shrunk, etc.

Always route BIG wires of your own doing and DO IT RIGHT.

Also, I never trust any of that so-called tow-package junk hanging under newer trucks; that stuff is way under-wired for any more than maybe a boat-trailer or such.

I put that plug-n-play junk right up there with suit-case splices.

Be very carefull ordering from them if they ask for a credit card and the 3 digit number. They don't use PayPal. Ordered a hitch from there using my Debit card, two days later someone in Bangkok took my Bank account for $400 on two purchases, $97.50 and $299.87. Visa called and asked if I made the purchase's, cancelled the card immediatly. No other purchase had been made for 3 weeks on my card before that. Not accusing just suspecting.
