torque converter recomendations?

Got a customers 99 superduty 4r100.i gotta replace the tranny.he bought a used one but it didnt come with a converter for some strange reason.

I dont trust reusing his.i havent really kept up with the what to buy or not to buy stuff.he doesnt want to spend a ton of money but he needs a decent one as he drags a 4car wedge trailer all day/everyday.

All I've heard is something about triple disc.
Also recall something about the 6.0 psd converter.

I also have heard that the 6.0 torque converter works in a PSD. Don't know what it takes to make it so, but it's supposed to be a huge "stock" upgrade to the E4od TC.

I wouldn't reuse the old converter. Most likely its ready to die. Use it as a core.

J Woods offers the 5R110 converter as a direct fit for the 4R100. He makes some adjustments for it to work properly.

What years had the 5r110? A tranny shop i told him not to deal with sold him a converter for a 2012 truck today.i gotta do this job thursday cuz its a "has to have it back in a day or less" jobs.

The 5R110 transmission was in the 03.25 - 07 6.0 trucks, and possibly the 08 - 10 6.4 trucks. Not sure on the 6.4's, but know for certain on the 6.0's. That is what I have.

Man, I hope you're not giving him a warranty. I'm just a shade tree mechanic, when I got that 69 R/T in, he wanted me to use a set of heads that had bad valve guides, I told him to come back when he buys an edelbrock top end package.
And that he did.
It's hard installing used parts for people. Especially when they bring you parts from junkyards and craigslist.
Get that down on paper!

Paper is the worst thing in this business.i dont buy peoples parts,they get them themselves.only warranty you get from me is that my work wont fall apart.the tranny did come with a converter,he thought it didnt cuz it wasnt in the tranny,was laying next to it when he looked at it.

Did the job last night in about 2 hours.now trying to figure out why the check engine light comes on when i drop it in drive,goes out when put back in park.the OD light starts flashing when put into reverse.wish i still had my snap on scanner.

I used the one on the replacement tranny,didnt take it off.was doing this before the tranny swap.

Took it out for test ride.at idle,cel and od lights on.step on it and the lights go out.let off the throttle and the lights come back on.

Im waiting on a friend to get back to me to see if i can borrow his scanner.
