In the past it's been suggested that a transmission swap was doable in a field with nothing more than a couple of sheets of plywood, a floor jack and some jack stands. Maybe when I was twenty five.

My son and I changed a clutch in the driveway this summer with just a couple sheets of plywood and a transmission jack. I'm trying to get my shop cleared out so I can work inside again. I once changed an F150 9" rear end in a parking lot. I'd rather not be in that kind of fix any more.

As to filter wrench, none of mine would swing in space available and filter was over tight (from PO) due to leaking so tried a different type of strap wrench. Oreilly's Pennzoil 19400 takes up same room (in tool box) as and uses 1/2" ratchet and worked great. Added to my IDI toolkit.
