Ya I've seen quite a few threads on this but I was wondering how I can tell if my truck needs to be timed. About 6 months ago I replaced the pump and I did notice it smoked more but didn't notice fuel mileage change because I never really drove it before changing the pump. It sounds like it runs fine to me but to be on the safe side I went to a local diesel shop to see if they could time it. They told me "you don't need to time these motors" and he also told me they won't touch my truck because its an ancient motor. Needless to say ill never go back there again. I also know quite a few people on here have timing meters but unfortunately I'm far from most of the people on this site

If you replaced the IP then it has to be timed to the engine for the proper amount of fuel and when the injectors fire so the engine can run effiectly and you can get the best fuel milage and performance, there are several members here that are willing to rent a meter for a fee of course at least they did in the past, Im sure a member that has a meter will chime in soon.

I was the member that had the timing meter rental program.. But the meters got broken and you know nobody would step forwards to tell me they did it. So many have made donations to me thru paypal and other ways to get the program up and running again. Its a horrible long time to get these repaired by the only place in this country. But I'm doing that no matter what the cost is. But until then we are all in the same life boat.. Waiting for rescue....:sorry:

I don't have money to buy one myself but I would be interested in renting one once you get them back and start renting them again.
