Next step in the journey just came in, honestly debating on weather to get the griddle and gapless ring pack while I’m out spending money

I plan to take it as far as the turbo Russ built me will take it. Maybe upgrade a bit down the road. But this is legit a work/lifestyle truck. It HAS to work to keep its place. Haul hay, horses, my camper
I travel ALOT for work, I’m a marine side Piledriver by trade so I follow to barge crane wherever it goes and my truck, trailer and boots gotta follow. I am looking at Justin’s 90cc pump and Russ’s injectors. The only other thing is to maybe put a diy charge cooler on it down the road, but we’ll see.
I don’t need the big power anymore, I just want it to pull the Lewiston ID 6mile hill at 50 towing 10k and I’ll be happy.
the best part of this thread is he went from this, "Dont need big power anymore" to buying head studs and looking at a girdle for his Turbo block build within a month. LOL The bug to build a truck gets all of us.

From what I have read you really dont need a block girdle unless you are making extreme amounts of power. the bottom end on these motors is very stout. I believe the only other person on here who has one is @IDIoit. rest of it is looking good.

My wife talked me down from a 150 to a 110 but I’m just looking for stockish 6.0 power, ya know haulin hay needs to have some fun in the summer, as well as going up and down the costal mountain range and cascade mountain range with travel trailer and horse trailer (4horse) I’d like to not completely hold up traffic any longer.

The girdle is more of a safety thing I see it as. I still have a “stock” ats turbo (it does have some custom touches from Russ at the moment) I at current moment have no inclination to go for a bigger turbo.

Head studs are another peace of mind thing

910-16 springs showed up today, sadly I didn’t pay attention and get the set with shims so I had to order some since I’ve thrown out all of my old stashes.
Little by little things show up, gotta get this block torn down to see what’s what.

So pulled apart the idi-t block tonight as far as I could (didn’t happen to have the right bolts long enough to mount on the stand) I can’t tell as of yet if this number 1 piston is a little chewed up or it’s just carbon I’ll get a nylon wheel to clean er up, but cross hatch is pretty nice, no ring ridge, all push rods were straight. So I’m thinking I’m ahead ha. I’ll get er mounted and drop the pan, crank n rods and go get er checked for square.

On other news finally got around to pulling apart the r32’s rb26det’s motor after it lost oil pressure on the dyno annnndddd the block is trash, and #6 piston is trash, sooooooooooo like 10k for another short block.

It's has a little bit of erosion on it. You can tell by the fact that the edge isn't perfectly round like the areas right next to it.

I'm not going to try to tell you what to do with your engine. It could be a problem. It may last a long time, but since you're talking about making big power, it may burn past that area soon and take out one or more rings. Then you'd be looking at a scored cylinder.
Overall, if this is going to be a daily driver or a truck that will see a lot of miles, I would replace it. If it's going to be used occasionally, it will probably last a long time.

Got the motor pulled apart today and all the rotating assembly out, here’s all the pistons, so it seems like I’m going to need some more pistons to finish out this new motor

Man I gotta say living so close to the man himself Russ (type4) it’s so nice to just go and pick stuff up and converse with a real person rather than just hitting add to cart and wait for the brown truck to show up.
Also got lucky on an eBay listing getting a set of new glow plugs for 30$ and a new oil cap for 1$
Also very nice to get some NOS parts like the block heater.
Waiting on other parts to trickle in from R&D and waiting for the machine shop to put new cam bearing in for me.

Whelp another part of my paycheck goes to Justin again. When will it stop? Probably when the 2nd motor blows up.
The factory turbo block didn’t show up with a flex plate and since I’ve already broken 2 flexplates doing dumb **** I’m going to hope this one holds up to the rest of time
