Strange Filter type thing

There is a strange filter looking deal on my truck. Drivers side inner finder, tucked all the way up against the firewall underneath the cruise control vacuum **** or whatever it is. Truck is the one described in my sig. Both lines to it are dead under the truck so im going to pull it but i was wondering what it was. I want to get rid of the useless stuff under my hood.

It's a water separator. They tend to leak at the drain and is probably why yours is disconnected.

Just make sure you have another filter and water seperater somewhere. The 7.3 filters have this on the top and bottom of the filters. Water in fuel switch on the bottom and vacuum switch on the top that usually tells you the filter is plugged up.

You will need to convert to a 7.3 filter head and filter if you want to ditch that part. Or something equivelent.

It has already been ditched and was when i bought the truck. I have a fuel filter on top of the motor like normal and ill proly do a goldenrod set-up

Here's what I did with mine. Couldnt be happier. I just left the WIF plug disconnected.

I used the Racor 690 filter separator. Fits in the stock location with no modifications.

The water seperator has been disconnected on my 6.9 for 10 years, never bothered doing any mods to it, just change the fuel filter a little more often.
