Yep. That right there is the monster. I hate those heavy things. They also don't seem to last as long as the others do.

I am guessing they were used on 6.9 engines, through 87. They are on both my 85 and 87. They are not easy to install under the truck and heavy AF, but work great.

The only problem I have had with mine is the solenoid came loose a couple years ago. $7 and it was all good again. Did not even have to take out the starter.

Direct drive starters are heavy monsters and VERY difficult to fit in the area between the block and frame cross member. My 89 engine had one. I found out later that gear reduction was the way to go. Easier fitment. Spins the engine so much faster and thats why my engine starts quickly.Compress the air quicker and it makes the heat necessary for combustion.`
