splitting down pipes.

im working on a custom build.
63 ranchero w/ 97 7.3L
i am wanting to split the down pipe and run side pipes on this rig,
WHY?? you ask?
i dont want the 4wd frame visable.
should i split the pipe up high, or down low?
i have all the room in the world!

I would split it low, down by the turn. Splitting it high just uses more pipe and more space.

Not necessarily. Anything more than a 4" downpipe is wasted pipe. That's all the more exhaust that flows through the turbo.
