so, I HAD all my rear lights fixed, wiring in decent shape, picked up some new 1157's at NAPA this afternoon, and on my lunch break (at 10 pm) I figured I'd put the new bulbs in....
I took out the drivers rear bulb to replace it, and when I put in the new bulb, the socket disintegrated in my hand.....
cussed a minute, and then took the extra socket I had (replaced the front ones beacause of the accident), and put it in, no big deal, just an extra few minutes...
then the same thing happened on the passenger side!!

more cussing, figured I'd get through the night on one bulb..... until it shorted out my system and blew the fuse and all the corner bulbs......
so.... cut off and taped the taillight bulb wires, told my boss who laughed his head off, and swung by wally world to grab some red LED lights, which will be mounted on my bumper and wired into the trailer plug tomorrow....
the really funny part is I drove on main roads from work to wally world (the only place open 24 hours here) which was 10 miles, and then wally world to my house which was another 15 miles, and didn't get pulled over (passing by the city PD, sheriffs department, and highway patrol office)
I just hope the flasher doesn't need to be changed to something funky to work with the LEDs
