Yes. the OD clutch pack is kinda whimpy on these things.

has anyone here put in new clutch packs?
I've rebuilt a C6 on which the E4OD is based. I've been told though that the E4OD is harder to service. When your talking clutch packs, your really talking about a rebuild. By the time you get to the clutches, the O-rings, lips, and seals that you had to pull out to get that far will all need to be replaced. I don't see why any decent home mechanic couldn't do it, but there are a few special tools you may need to help get some things on and off. That and a decent service manual or mentor who has done it.

Search fleabay. I picked up the Alto 026757HP kit for around $245.
This kit corrects the common shift problems. You might want to add the Transgo tugger kit too. For the most important stuff an ATSG guide will help.
