so i just put the other motor in my truck... not sure of the history other then its a 91 non turbo'ed motor form a tow truck..

now this thing runs great, my orig motor had the banks system so that got put back on.. now the thing makes 10psi boost on the high way and about 5 psi cruising threw the city..

no black smoke no nothing but good running

egt sits around 250-350 cruising, and if im in it on the high way maybe 750-850

this is all no load

should i turn the fuel up even tho everything seems fine but knowing its a non turbo motor and a tow truck its prob never been tweaked so should i with how good it runs?

Getting that much boost, don't mess with it. Smoke is unburnt fuel, there goes the MPG..

Its sounds good too me I would leave it. But if you are itching to turn it you have a lil from like a 1/2 of a flat or one. But it sounds to be tuned well if you are gonna tow hook up an go wot up a nice hill in town an check egt.

Foot controls fuel and efficiency too... If max my screw but drive with a ball under my pedal ill get better mpg than someone with the screw untouched driving like they stole it

sounds like the fuel is too high already to me.if you tried to haul heavy or tow, you'd agree within your first hill.:D

If you have a Banks, then your pyro is post-turbo. Get that thing moved to within 3" of the exhaust manifold so the EGT reporting is realistic. 90% of the guys here have pre-turbo pyro's, and so the top numbers are more reliable and conforming. Before you touch your pump you need to find out what your EGT's really are, and not what they are after they have been cooled by feet of plumbing and a windmill.

I know the pyro is down stream quite a bit but I'm ok with how it reads

It's not uncommon to see a 200 degree diff between pre and post turbo temps. If you are touching 850 post turbo without a trailer behind, I'd leave it where it's at now.

Is this pointed to me?
yeah.
if you don't use your truck for hauling or towing, you might be ok leaving it there, but id never get away with this much fuel with my truck (without an intercooler)
well look what you say you have, 800 EGT's on the hwy with no load! lol.
i see peaks of 900 EGT's at full boost (9.5-10 lbs) hauling a few ton,and that's still only on the hills, and im 8k lb just empty.she's got mad power as is.so there's no need to push things.
i have her setup just like banks recommends:

Cruise Conditions (constant 60mph on Level Road): EGT
should be approximately 400°F to 600°F; boost gauge, if
so equipped, should read 1 to 2 pounds.
High Load Conditions (uphill with heavy load): EGT
should typically be 900°F to 1000°F, with 1050°F as a
safe maximum.
It is important to realize that diesels, unlike gasoline
engines, run cooler with additional air. Exhaust gas temperature
rises as more fuel is added. Turbocharging a
diesel typically lowers the EGT. Normal cruise condition
EGT for a normally aspirated (non-turbocharged) diesel
engine is typically 600°F to 800°F. As noted above,
cruise condition EGT for a turbocharged diesel is typically
400°F to 600°F. This lower EGT translates directly to
lower piston and valve temperatures, and significantly
increased engine life.

nothing wrong with getting all you can out of her,but if you work the truck, you'll soon understand, that with her setup the way you have it now,you wont be able to use the power anyway, you'll have to back off and or make her scream by dropping a gear.
just be careful if/when you go to use the truck because you'll find her quickly past her limits with the fuel settings you running.
hate to hear you burnt it up because no one advised you beforehand to turn the juice down just a tad.........or at least just be prepared to keep your eyes clued to the pryo, ready to back off real fast, and or drop a gear and let her rev a bit extra.

Mine will only get to about 850 unloaded.
Once I hook the 5er up, it will creep up past 1000 pretty easily. Highest temp I've hit on a long hill is 1070 with the throttle matted for the entire length of the hill.

Well I've been driving it more since I've fiXed it... Crushing highway is only like 500* the 850 wAs with the pedal mashed and 9psi and no load, with he old motor same thin was put the pyro around 1100-1200 which I know was to high with no load.... I do have a cummins front mount deal I'm gonna put on it but I need some piping and a new hat at the intake to get it to work so it's on the back burner now with winter around the coner
