Awright, i finally got everything working and i turned up the pump. Shes runnin fine, i just wanted to let everyone know. Ive been doin a lot so i never got back on her to give updates.

My new question is, do i need a new sending unit or just the float?

Both my tanks work its just when i switch over to the front tank the gauge is very eratic. if the trucks been sittin for a while the gauge reads accurate, but when i start driving it just goes nuts, it ussually stays up above the full mark?

is it just the 12 dollar float or the 350 dollar sending uint?

There is no way of actually knowing which it is, but if it's a fast erratic reading I would guess it's the sending unit. The resistor material gets worn off by the wiper.

If you want to do a little retro-fitting, you can buy a sending unit from JCWhitney and use it to repair your sending unit. Do a search for it on here.

If it was like mine when the floats cracked it just showed empty all the time.

Hate to say it but it sounds like the sending unit to me as well.

I put a new resistor card in one of mine and as far as I know I could do yours also for about $50.00, but it's a PITA.

I suppose even with shipping that would be cheaper but the downtime would be inconvenient.:dunno
