Spend the money and use AutoRX. I've used Seafoam and water on gassers, but AutoRX really works well. My old rig would pull the hill going up into my street a gear taller after one treatment.

Seafoqm...auto rx.....pick yer poison.....nothing beats proper regilar oil changes...all the rest is snake oil sold for your consience.....and peace of mind.

While regular oil changes are best, doing an internal cleaning can be beneficial for a vehicle that you've just acquired and don't know the full history on. I've seen Seafoam clean sludge out of an engine that hadn't seen nearly enough oil changes in prior years. However, you should only need to do it a few times, then once things are reasonably clean, regular oil changes will be sufficient...

No no dont conceed...its just I keep hearing how hi detergemt atf is and I cant comprehend it.
I know it is different now that years ago but regardless it is a hydraulic fluid with anti wear properties and iirc anti foaming...but being that it doesnt have to contend with combustion by products as far as I knkw it isnt a detergent oil like most presume it is....I could very well be incorrect on that mind you.
It is a better refined oil if memory serves me right than convemtional engime oil...
Maybe I am backwards I dont know.
But tossing a can of atf into fuel filter makes some folks feel good who am I to stop em.
Myself I would rather utilize a product for the intended purpose...like diesl purge to clean my IP amd such.
I understamd how RX and Seafoam can be helpful in an old engine however I would likely do an oil analysis and work from fact...or pull the valve covers for an inspection. Then you have an informed choice to make.
If adding seafoam or auto rx to oil makes ya feel good ...do it!
Hqve I done it...yes as a matter of fact I have...usually to assist in cleaning oit schmeg...did it work...no idea....
Regardless of what I say please...research options a d base choices on facts supported with evidence not some rumors and speculation....

I used to do short oil changes to clean up a neglected engine, but have found that 3k intervals with an engine that gets good and warm (not short tripped) every time, will clean up in about 10-15k.
On the sea foam trick in these engines, I believe most of it gets evaporated out of the oil and leaves in the blow by. Next time you add sea foam to your oil, go stand by the tail pipe with the engine running and tell me what you think.

I sucked a can of seafoam into the air pump on the rockcrawler to clean up some driveability issues ( did help) suck it in kill eng. let soak, fire it up and wait for the cloud to disappear. most snake oil is good for the snake.

I ran Auto RX in my truck once
IDK if it did anything really, the truck ran good before, and still runs good now.
I also dont drive much, but when I do I'm towing a good load on hills, so I work the motor
