I just swapped a new engine into my dumper. I need to take it over to the muffler shop to get the up pipe on the turbo connected to the y pipe on the exhaust manifolds. I want to start the truck up briefly make sure shes running right and then drive it over to the shop about 8 miles away. So essentially it will be running like a na engine. Im wondering if doing this will in any way damage the turbo.

Only way I can think of is if since the cold side of the turbo would be spinning the hot side it would become a vacuum to an open dirty area.

I would be worried about burning a valve, so run the N/A exhaust till you get there.
since your up pipes arnt connected, the turbo wont be spinning.
what will the oil pressure do to the seals with the shaft not spinning?

Why would you burn a valve with no exhaust? Doesn't make any sense. Don't floor it till it smokes(if you've turned the pump up) and call it good.

Good point plywood. I will attach some sort of filter to the up pipe.

Macrobb: I talked to the guys at motorworks in spokane who rebuilt the engine they said everything was stock on engine. After looking at the IP I can still see the paint marks have been unadulterated.

**** ill take care of that soon though ;)

Only issue is Barney is gonna hear you from a town over...

Edit. I see you’re leaving stock exhaust hooked up, good call

If the intake is hooked up like the turbo is functional, then the turbo will spin a little bit as the air moves through it. Since there's no pressure, I doubt if it will spin very fast.
