Frankly, I'm a little shocked that your longest stretch on any one road is good ol' I-81. I've driven the lenght of that sucker too, and that's one pretty ride. Make note of exit 90 when you go by it. You'll be getting off there for the rally. ;Sweet

Heath, I wish I had more time to take off work, id love to stop and look around your shop! I just think id be cutting it way too close to take the detour, plus I know it won't be a 15 minute hello id spend most of the day bsing away about our little addiction! We'll have to wait till the rally to meetup, I may tow out the scout with the travelette so you can take a look then.

You are right. We'd screw around all day and I'd totally screw up your time schedule.:D But, I will shoot the bull with you and have a great time at the Rally. Can't wait to see the Scout and the Travelette!

UPDATE:

Jon and his friend Brandon just left my shop in Safford AZ. Jon is a very cool dude and it was a pleasure to meet him and finally put a face with a computer name. I also am a member over on Binderplanet.com with Jon.

Jon defiantly shares a strong love with Binders and IDI's. He purchased a bunch of AZ rust free IH sheetmetal from me. And My buddy Paul was able to locate his friend Brandon a rust free 63 Ford cab just down the road from my shop for only $10!!! So, I jumped on my forklift and drove down the hwy. into the little town of Solomon and retrieved this cab. We then watch Jon and Brandon Pack everything into the bed of the travelette. Thank goodness its a long bed travelette!

I am extremely jealous its not me taking this trip. Jon is living the dream as I type this. Cruising cross country in a Binder and meeting new people. Oh, and as previous, previous owner of Jons new travellete....I doubt he will have any trouble. He bought a solid truck in good shape.

Jon, thanks for stopping by.... hopefully someday I can make it over to the right side of the country. Glad I got to show you my collection of Internationals as well as my IDI stuff.

Here are a few pics of Jons new Binder and my 86 Ford.

Thanks again Jon for stopping by. ;Sweet

Well i just completed a 2500 mile trip from Hereford, Arizona (i literaly saw the lights in MEXICO in the guys backyard), to Jessup, Pa in a 1971 IH Travelette pickup. it burned 222.7 gallons of fuel, $845.61 worth to be exact, and roughly got 11mpg running almost redline @ 3,000 RPM. To anyone that says IH is junk, lets see your POS at age 40 make a cross country trip with no major issues!!!!!!!!!!

i burned up a coil 30 miles west of amerillo texas, we would dump water on it to cool it, go a few miles, repeat, well we made it to an exit and there was a yard with 3 old ferd trucks in the yard so we decided to ask the owner if we could buy one off him, he gave us an old dusty "mopar" coil he had in his shop, it got us up and running and all the way home!!!!! ;Sweet i'm falling asleep now, i got over 100 photos i'll upload and post a more detailed trip story tomorrow.

Glad you made it Jon. Makes me think the trip I talked about here awhile ago is doable in the IDI should I decide to go that route. Good on you for keeping the old iron on the road.
