I am new to the site as of today, your idea to rent is really a good one. I am and engineer and have strong background in remote access for devices. I have some ideas
if you want to pursue this idea I think you can control your units and remotely help the clients via secure vpn connections. This is not a hard thing to do and quite easy to mange.

Your response helps show how far technology moves in 11 years. Smartphone apps can read codes and all sorts of other sensor readings with an inexpensive bluetooth dongle. I'm not that adept at this and use my Aeroforce gauge to read codes, etc for me. And it is always installed. I'd pay a dollar or three for an app that already had all of the relevant PIDs loaded and that were user editable. But my entry barrier, is my lack of the PIDs and how to create/edit them whereas the barrier to the Original Poster's suggestion was cost, or an available amount of credit.
