Removing all the coolant.

What's the best way to evacuate all the coolant from the motor? I was changing my water pump and saw my radiator was pretty gross. I took it in to get cleaned and bought 8 gallons of 50/50 fleetguard antifreeze from the cummins shop. They said it already contains the DCA-4 additive. I dont know what was running in the system before so I want it all out. If it matters, the water pump is still on the motor, but the radiator is gone.

Have you removed the plug from the drivers side rear of the engine?

I know nothing of this plug you speak of. Is it a freeze plug or some other kind of removable plug?

It's a brass pipe plug, also one on the passengers side behind the starter. Use a six point socket or six point box end wrench, or you will round off the hex. You will have to blow the heater out to drain it.
